Roman Catholic-Orthodox dialogue, due to the doctrinal similitude of both ecclesial traditions, raises the greatest hopes as to unification in faith and in church teachings. Over nearly four hundred years of work by the Joint Commission for the theological dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church on the global scene, it has born much good fruit. For the dialogue to be initiated, the Churches had to pass through enormous transformation, both mental and spiritual. The point was for them to rediscover each other as sisterly Churches.
